Move Up applies, expands and differentiates the Move On approach for Entry level learners. The Move Up Teacher Route is a developing resource to support engagement, teaching, learning, achievement and progression at Entry level.
The session offers an opportunity for both new and experienced teachers of literacy and numeracy to:
- reflect on teaching and learning at Entry level and explore and share good practice
- explore resources developed by the Move On Up project to support engagement, teaching and learning, achievement and progression at Entry level.
The session will:
- help teachers to locate and use resources on the Move Up Teacher Route
- explore strategies for maximising engagement of learners in accreditation at Entry 3
- offer an overview of NRDC research into effective teaching and learning approaches
- allow participants to consider the teaching and learning approaches they currently use and those they would like to develop
- showcase ‘Learning Chunks’ and how they might be used, adapted and disseminated
- consider approaches to formative assessment including the Move Up test
- suggest practical approaches to developing independent learners
- identify critical skills for progression.
Target audience:
- new and experienced literacy and numeracy teachers
- SfL managers and curriculum leaders.
Whilst ESOL teachers may find the resources useful to develop their learners’ literacy or numeracy skills, the session does not specifically consider ESOL teaching and learning.
