This qualification will be taken by teachers in an associate teacher role and is available at two levels (3 or 4) and has a minimum credit value of 24.
Level 3 comprises 3 mandatory units at level 3
- PTLLS (6 credits)
- Planning and enabling learning (9 credits)
- Principles and practice of assessment (3 credits)
and an optional unit to the value of at least 6 credits at a minimum of level 3
Level 4 comprises the same 3 mandatory units but at level 4 and an optional unit to the value of a minimum of 6 credits at level 3 or 4
Optional units will include those developed to represent the target audience taught, the environment in which teaching and learning takes place and elements relating to a specific teacher role.
There must be a minimum of 30 hours of teaching practice and a minimum of 3 observations totalling 3 hours. Any single observation must be at least half an hour (excluding observed practice completed for PTLLS)
Guided learning hours = 120
